Tent city protestors in Riga

Protestors have built a small tent city in Riga in front of the government house or Cabinet of Ministers. Started by one man, Gints, who demands the government act to reduce unemployment and to reform the electoral system, it has blossomed to ten tents and a semi-permanent fire for cooking and warmth. The protests now cover a variety of causes. I had a chance to film what was going on a few days ago from today, December 26.

Hehe, I think we should make tent cities near Swedish banks. And we could use credit warning letters for igniting bonfires. And Swedish pensioners whose funds were saved by drastic budget cuts in Latvia have new places to travel to.. no reason to go to India or Africa, they could visit Latvian tent cities and rural areas to compare their lives with how pensioners in Latvia live. (Literally having 20 EUR/month for food after paying rent and vital (but overpriced) medicals).

Okay, just some minor fun - Swedish pensioners are absolutely no guilty that old people here were so naive that though the regained freedom and people from Europe will help the country to get what it lost after the WWII......

Anonymous,
No, the blog isn't quite dead, I am simply a lot busier at my regular job. Also I was in the US for a couple of weeks. Nothing really new has happened here apart from the government coalition starting to fall apart. I should post more, so thanks for reminding me.
